What is the Nexus?

The Nexus is an interdimensional hub that seemingly exists either between or outside known time and space. Its exact origin or purpose is unknown, but what is known is that it is home to travelers from all walks of life, from various existences. These travelers are known as “Paintwalkers” as they often travel from world to world through animated paintings. The Nexus serves as a sanctuary for some and a prison for others, as those who eventually discover themselves there realize they can never return through the painting that led them there. Whether this place is heaven, hell, or something else, it’s the place that you now call home, whether you want to or not, so you might as well explore and enjoy your stay! The Nexus itself is shielded from any outside influence, forever stuck in an odd stasis, yet always changing and expanding to accommodate the travelers who exist within its walls. No other creature, other than the adventurers and familiars or class feature pets (ex. drakewarden’s drake), chosen by the Nexus, may enter it. Should any other creature attempt to cross the threshold, they will immediately be destroyed. Characters may never return to their home worlds. Except if that character is retired or prestiged into a different character.

How do you end up at The Nexus?

Your character may just one day wake up in The Nexus, fall through a portal, or get teleported to this odd place in between. You decide how your character gets to this place and why they end up there. You will always materialize/arrive in the painting room, as it is the gateway, or Nexus, to all other dimensions, realms, and universes.

What does The Nexus look like, and what does The Nexus have?

No one knows what the outside of The Nexus looks like since there are no windows leading to whatever the outside of The Nexus even is. However, The Nexus does have 5 distinct locations that tenants are aware of. These locations are as follows:

There is one additional sub-location known as “The Lakehouse” that also exists within the Botanical Gardens, which seems to serve as an environment that changes with the seasons. Each of these locations is on a separate floor, starting from the Ground Floor and currently leading up to the 4th Floor. Feel free to click on any of the locations above to learn more about them!
